A Magical Round at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
When you think of Disney, golf may not be the first thing that comes to mind—but after playing a round at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, I can confidently say it should be. Tucked away near the Magnolia and Palm courses, Oak Trail is Disney’s family-friendly, 9-hole walking course, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable golf experiences I’ve ever had.
From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like part of the Disney family. Golf courses can sometimes feel intimidating—especially if you’re not a seasoned player—but Oak Trail couldn’t be more welcoming. The team at check-in was cheerful, helpful, and genuinely excited to set us up for the day. They explained the course layout, offered tips for navigating the holes, and even took the time to make sure my wife felt comfortable since this was her first time playing outside our local courses. That Disney hospitality extended to the starter and on-course staff too—every interaction felt thoughtful, relaxed, and kind.
We played last April, and I was struck by how immaculate the course was. The fairways were lush and forgiving, the bunkers were raked and well-maintained, and the greens rolled true without being overly fast or punishing. It’s clear that even though Oak Trail is the “little sibling” to the championship-level Palm and Magnolia, it receives just as much care and attention.
What impressed me most was how the course design balances playability with challenge. At just over 2,800 yards, Oak Trail isn’t long, but it makes smart use of doglegs, water features, and green complexes to keep you engaged. Each hole felt fresh and distinct, with plenty of variety to keep the round fun without ever feeling overwhelming.
The true magic of Oak Trail lies in how it caters to all golfers. For me, it was a fun chance to work on my short game and shot placement in a relaxed environment. For my wife, who had never played outside of our local courses, it was the perfect introduction to “big vacation golf.”
The wide fairways, shorter yardages, and walkable layout gave her the confidence to enjoy herself without the pressure that can come with tougher championship courses. She loved that she could play at her own pace and still feel challenged without being intimidated. By the end of the round, she was already asking when we could play it again—a testament to how inclusive and enjoyable Oak Trail really is.
Oak Trail also has something special that’s hard to describe but easy to feel: that Disney touch. The course winds through a beautiful natural setting, with oak trees providing shade and Florida wildlife making cameo appearances throughout the round. We spotted birds, squirrels, and even a deer in the distance, adding to the peaceful, almost storybook atmosphere.
Walking the course gave us the chance to slow down and really enjoy the surroundings—something that felt very “Disney” in spirit. Just like the theme parks, Oak Trail blends fun, accessibility, and attention to detail into an experience you won’t forget.
Even though Oak Trail is a walking course, you don’t feel like you’re missing out on amenities. There are practice areas to loosen up before your round, and the pro shop has everything you need—from balls and gloves to snacks and drinks. The beverage cart service was a nice surprise on a 9-hole course and kept us refreshed under the Florida sun.
And like everything at Disney, the logistics were smooth. Complimentary transportation from Disney resorts made getting there a breeze, and the process of checking in, warming up, and heading to the first tee felt effortless.
Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course may not have the prestige of Magnolia or Palm, but it delivers something equally special: a course that is welcoming, beautifully maintained, and designed for pure enjoyment.
For me, it was a chance to play a relaxed but engaging round on vacation. For my wife, it was an introduction to the joy of golf beyond our local courses—and she came away with a big smile, already hooked on the idea of playing again.
That’s the magic of Oak Trail: it’s a place where seasoned golfers and newcomers alike can share the game together in a stress-free, memorable way. If you’re heading to Disney World and want a golf experience that balances quality with accessibility, don’t overlook Oak Trail. It might just be the most magical 9 holes you’ll ever play.
